Notes from the Second Run Friday

Prologue
·      Alex – not so obvious with flash prep (I can help with this)
·      Kate – shining castle, not “small castle”
·      Have rose ready to go, Rose Tech, not displaying “Epson” when the spell is cast - Good cover, Alex, when rose didn’t appear

Belle
·      Good timing on lights, Jordan
·      Love the “Fish?  Fish?” moves, Jacob
·      Nice outfit Baker
·      Better volume Maya/Karijka!
·      Soloists need to “spotlight” themselves – make yourself obvious so the audience knows who’s singing – cross DS, wave, etc.
·      Better crossing Chorus on “Look there she goes…” – now add more attitude/sass in hands/arms!
·      Rebecca – add color for this scene so you’re not in black and white
·      Becky – better volume!
·      Practice duck throw so we don’t see hands
·      Better hair bow Cheyenne!
·      Nice job Silly Girls!
·      Better kneeling SGs!
·      Nice volume chorus at ending!

Scene
·      LF – instead of mirroring him, try to groom him and Gaston keep swatting her away
·      Better snaps, Gaston!
·      Belle – “You can’t possibly imagine” should be more sarcastic.
·      LF – laugh higher and faster (maybe a sore throat issue?)
·      Way to get that invention to its place, Maurice!
·      Nice avoiding the invention space, LF/Gas
·      LF – excellent build up on spider line
·      Good timing blue curtains (Kelsey?)
·      Broderick – stay away from the barrel – you keep hiding behind it
·      Broderick – say “Oh!” if you’re already holding the Doglegge-clencher and Belle points that out.

No Matter What
·      Quieter curtain pulling backstage (Jessica’s maybe?)
·      Broderick – don’t throw away her nose – put it back as another “funny bit”

Woods 1
·      Whoever’s holding the trap for the wolves, keep it masking (lift away from audience) – ask H2O Monday if you don’t know what that means
·      Broderick – gesture towards where you left the invention when you talk about it
·      Broderick – bang on wall perhaps instead of invisible door?  Or shout into the hall?

Maurice in Castle
·      Sterling – look surprised/funny when you’re frozen at the top of the scene
·      Broderick – good volume
·      Broderick be way far DSR for candle bow-out part (you’re blocking Lum/Cog)
·      Nice “I, sir, am not a gadget!” Chris
·      Yay twinkling Sterling!
·      Yay JJ for bringing on chair!
·      Nice sparkly feather duster Babette
·      Sterling be DS of blues instead of behind them when pantomiming argument with Babs
·      Nice fear in this scene and “hiding” in chair Broderick
·      Nice cover for missing blanket Chris
·      Broderick – yelp when you see the Beast?  Good physical reaction, just need bigger vocals

Waaahhhh!/Me/LF Woods Scene
·      Good smugness for crying Gaston
·      That’s a creepy bloody knife on your belt! J
·      SGs – awesome job.
·      Jordan – stage lights for “Me” when Gaston walks in
·      Belle – a little more obvious drop of portrait in fountain so the aud. gets the joke.
·      Gaston - Wait to grab Belle at start of song (run with H2O for timing if needed)
·      Belle/Gaston – nice job on the shoulder turnarounds
·      Tango with straight arms and take her shoulder instead of bicep
·      Gaston grab (and miss her) and sad at that with music at the very end
·      Nice pile, SGs, around wall corner!
·      Quiet set changes!

Belle in Castle/Home
·      Chair back goes in corner
·      Better freezing.  I like the eyes, Sterling.  Chris add eyes, too (face towards audience for that )
·      Sterling and Chris – exit R (follow Belle instead of chasing her the opposite way she exits)
·      Caryatids and Maurice – same trap issue as woods
·      Way to cover two missing caryatids, Ellie and Jacob!
·      Nice claw bit Paul/Katie (when P reaches and she shies away)
·      Nice anger, Paul
·      Too fast with whole scene to match music – ALL take more time
·      Kailey – watch for brown border on top of black curtain leg left
·      Katie G. – olive oil, lemon tea, sleep, and no singing this weekend – save your voice!
·      Sarah – that works for you to be DS of platforms with the cart instead of on the platforms
·      Kelle – nice eyes/expression when you tucked the bloomers back!
·      Potts – stay at the cart and “serve up the tea” while Kelle’s “scene” is happening
·      Good Blues transition! (yay Kelsey!)

Gaston
·      ALL need to help set up Tavern – there’s more people than objects, so you shouldn’t have an issue changing the set
·      Nice funny poses, Katie O.
·      Sad no big moustache Sterling!
·      Katie O. – always face audience for blocking (esp. cross for Tom, Dick, Stanly)
·      Gaston/Ryan – a little too fast on throw off at end of fight
·      That’s so gross, Gaston! (chest hair)
·      Nice vest Jessica
·      Nice sleeves Christina
·      Gaston – maybe stretch, then windmill, then Pose #1 (to fill time)
·      Alex – no purple sash
·      JJ and Horgan on platforms for arm wrestle - nice!  Others, too?  If you can’t see the arm wrestle, stand on the platforms!
·      Nice flaps SGs
·      Babs – good sash, tie over shirt/pant intersection
·      Nice diagonals Kate, Kelsey, Becky, Laely on the cup dance!  Thanks for taking the position change.
·      At least Gaston needs to be looking up for floor bit of the dance, if not all of the standing dancers
·      Much better LF and Gas on Reprise dance
·      Good harmony LF!

Castle Scenes
·      Much better job with entrances, Potts
·      More obvious pulling on handle, Lum/Cog – we need to see that happening like a Roadrunner Cartoon
·      Cogs – freak out much more about the handle – Arms! Spinning!
·      Lum/Potts – let Paul do a quick bit for each one of the gentlemen notes (give him a moment) – Paul have a sound for each one, too
·      Cogs – take your time – be laborious about the entrance (take your time and show off the awkwardness of climbing the platforms), then the “What?” will be funnier
·      Nice “Bully” scene everyone!
·      ALL - Do NOT laugh at stage mistakes!
·      Sterling – better at the falling asleep, but have it be in the quieter moments rather than the big moments
·      Two rose drops right before “No, what did they say?  Act like a gentleman…”
·      Much better wakeup Sterling!
·      Babette – sneeze b/c you put your feathers on your nose.
·      Sterling – more flirty as you chase Babs off
·      Potts – don’t talk to the curtain.  If Chris isn’t on yet (though he should be), tell the audience you like Belle
·      ALL - Good cover for late curtain pre-BOG

Be Our Guest
**Stage lights on
·      Nice beaming face, Ezra
·      Check swaying, forks!  Make sure you’re together and on the beat.
·      Kate – arm straight for kneel post-grapevine
·      Sterling – good flames out on “oopsa-daisy”
·      Kate/Alex – you’re late
·      Kate – hide hand behind Alex’s hat so we don’t see the source of the confetti
·      Maya – characters on arm?  Serenity symbol on the belt? Nice job both Maya & Jacob on the moves! Looks good!  The red sashes help.
·      Napkins – the black tights look much better!  Thank you for getting those at the last minute!
·      Sterling – clip mic where I showed you!  Why is it on your pocket?
·      Kailey and Rebecca – good skirt lifts for kicks
·      Cogsworth – thanks for still saying the line
·      Chorus – ending of song you were too fast (Can you hear the music?)

Post-BOG
·      Way to stay in character Paul!
·      Nice pivot and arms for the library exit, Cogs/Lum
·      Belle – “Ow!” when Beast rips your dress (so it’s a scratch, not a rip)

If I Can’t Love Her
·      Belle – stop talking when you exit!
·      Pace Paul in the gap between verses (you’ve got more space now)
·      Lamp = Sconce!?!?

Run Time Act 1: 1:15

Act 2

Woods 2
·      Better cape, Katie G.!
·      Too fast still, Wolves
·      Better searching, Paul!
·      Katie and Paul – see H2O to work the injured walk off

·      ALL – Castle transition here sucks  All you have to do is open the blacks and walk out.
·      Paul – Pause…. “You’re welcome.”  instead of “You’re” pause “welcome”

Something’s There
·      Babette  - wait for end of singing 1st verse to serve the soup
·      Potts and Belle – lead her off bedroom exit (stairs)
·      & Katie re-enter down the stairs
·      WORK THIS SONG!  It’s not good!
·      Kindle?  Decent improv, Sterling, although it’s a much less impressive gift
·      Paul – be doing stuff for Sterling to dismiss during flirting lessons (more gestures) and be doing something very not Prince Charming when Belle sings “True that he’s no Prince Charming”
·      Crap, Lum/Potts/etc. – WHY CAN”T YOU GET THERE ON CUE? (for the solos at end of song)

Human Again
·      Kelle – go join the group, instead of awkward middle-school girl at a dance-ness on the side.
·      Yay eyebrow twitch, Sterling with Bab dip!
·      EZRA!!!!!!! (fist shake)
·      Chris – practice with the RehearseScore – you’ll get the solo timing
·      Nice clean-ups, Napkins, and showing the feathers to Potts
·      Potts – cheat out when you give instructions
·      Better expressions Kelle, Sterling, Sarah
·      Nice smiling in the servant line Rochelle, Kelsey, Cheyenne, Ezra
·      Rochelle & Horgan – work with H2O or Mason re: this dance  You’re very blah and limp on the side arm sweeps
·      Better Volume!!!  Yay!!
·      Stagger your breathing – the chorus all took a breath at the same time in the last note.
·      ALL – do NOT exit DSR (hallway to dressingrooms)!!!!  LF/G/D’A are trying to get onstage.

Maison des Lunes
·      Nice eye makeup, D’Arque.  Should we give you an evil goatee too?
·      ***Run with Orch pre-show/rehearsals
·      “Fish” – needs to be enunciated (it sounds like a bad word)
·      You needs mics (orch couldn’t follow)
·      Nice coins!
·      Nice “very tightly” Katie

Beauty and the Beast
·      The line is “romantic candlelight” Sterling
·      Rose should be further along by now
·      Much better timing, Katie and Paul.  Katie – bigger reaction to his outfit (you are surprised and touched that he looks GOOD!)
·      Potts – missed entrance – take it from the music, not the blocking.
·      Nice peeking out Lum/Cogs!
·      Twinkle Sterling!  Wiggle those fingers when the other candles show up.
·      Hold exit for blue curtain, chorus
·      Belle  - more surprise at the magic mirror (you don’t know about it)
·      Off-stage we heard: “(CRASH!) )(SHHHHH!)”
·      Belle – “I could never forget you” – make it that you want to say “I love you,” but it’s too scary.  Then Paul, same for you with the next line.
·      Nice “Go”s Paul and Katie (until the trip, that is)
·      Paul – take your time to say, “I let her go” – less nonchalant
·      Nice growly “condemned” Paul
·      Paul - Enunciate “Death”
·      Beast – move table off in character if the lights are still on (instead of prancing back for it after singing about death and such)

A Change in Me
·      Slow down Belle! You’re rushing the dialogue pre-song
·      Broderick – can you sit with your bottom farther from Belle and lean towards her instead of bum next to her and leaning away from her?
·      Nice watching her song, Broderick – that’s exactly what you’re supposed to do!
·      And good smile at end, Broderick.  Nice old man smile.

Mob Song
·      Where’s the townspeople????!!!!
·      Gaston – lean against the wall with one foot on it
·      Gaston – more obvious look at townspeople after they gasp at the almost-slap (bigger head turn)
·      Nice blocking adjustment JJ and Horgan – good note taking
·      Gaston – have the pause be “We’ll rid the village of this beast” PAUSE “Who’s with me” instead of “We’ll rid the village of this beast, who’s with me” PAUSE “I am!”
·      Ladies – if you hit the high notes, keep them, otherwise shout “Save the village and our lives”
·      Cheyenne, Becky, & others on the stage right side of the triangle - be tighter in the triangle (shoulder to shoulder)
·      Jessica – bang the cane on the LF head butts (“Kill the beast!” BANG)

Castle Chase
·      Sterling don’t laugh at yourself so much (or do smugly, then have a big emotional switch for “Sacre bleu”)
·      Too late on the head drop Rochelle
·      Maya costume?
·      Spitting - So gross Ezra! (in a good way J)
·      Nice change of placement Kelle – get a microphone!
·      All forks lower headbands like Kelsey’s did accidentally?

Fight on Tower
·      Need to run with Orch – too quick still, and missing Belle?!?!
·      Thanks for tucking in JJ J
·      Love the hand on her face, then the limp arm, Paul!
·      Katie – staunch the blood, remember?
·      Why is there so much crossing in the death scene?  You come on from a random side after this! No crossy!

Transition
·      WORK THIS!!!
·      Too early Lum/Potts  wait for music change (check RehearseScore)
·      Paul – Flash! - slowly stand up – see your hands – then turn to see her
·      Slow down everyone!  Enjoy these reunions!
·      Lum/Cogs – nice attempt at stalling for Babs.  There’s extra time b/c you started this scene too early and rushed it.
·      Kelle – enter at top and sashay down the stairs.  Show off your awesomeness
·      Turkey – don’t hold up your dress
·      Kelle – since you repeat the line re: the King twice, you should have a distinct, annoying, exact same way to say the line every time.
·      ALL - Missed the cue for singing at end!
·      Come on and REUNION!  Hugs! Even while you’re singing!
·      I like the crown, Belle.

Act 2: 48:00

  2. I, Katie Olson, shall try to laugh higher with my voice . . . For it shall be better by the show, I am confident in this. And I shall get a microphone for the Maison Des Lunes and many other things...

  3. Kailey/Silly Girl #2 will keep all the change that we made like kneeling to the side to keep this show rated G. And I will watch out for the brown border on the left curtain. I will also continue to lift my skirt higher for the Napkin dance. Oh and i will make suret the silly girls stand in a more diagonla line when Gaston is talking to us right before "Me".

  4. I looked at the notes and promise to enunciate death angry/sad way. There's more, but I'm just proving that I read it.
    - Paul

    1. Cape for monsieur d'arque?? and I would absolutely love a goatee for monsieur d'arque!!!
    2. For the tavern scene, are we as the cast allowed to wear more color? Like the blue scarf I was wearing for belle?? It looks dull to me on the stage.
    3. Since I am wearing a goatee and "goth stlye" eyeliner for monsieur d'arque should I go on for Beauty and the Beast??
    4. Am I still a caraytid (that's probably badly spelled)? Because for the notes for the rehearsal number 1, I was no longer a caraytid.
    5. Growling for the wolves?? Was it better?
    6. I shall enunciate "fish," so it does not sound like that naughty word!!
    7. Mic map?? Are we by chance going to learn how to read the map on Monday?? It was quite confusing for me.
    8. I, Zach Willbanks, shall do all the notes that u given us and I shall do more!!
    - Zach W.
